An end of the day snack. Tulsi is eating a variety of frying pepper called ‘Cubanelle’

Our second round of Sungolds are coming in strong. We finally replaced the plastic top on this high tunnel so now the plants are protected from rain which should prolong their abundance.

Bouquets of flowers will be at both the Wednesday and Saturday on farm markets this week.

Cousins spending a few days together during the summer helping out picking Sun gold tomatoes. Tulsi looks a little wore out from all that picking, huh?

So many Locally produced options when shopping at the farm…

This is our second succession of squash and cucumbers. The insect netting will hopefully protect the squash from an early squash bug attack. We’ll remove the covers at the very last second when they begin flowering.

Ladybugs at two different developmental stages on aphid patrol in the Eggplant crop. We have so many aphids on about half our eggplant crop, but with lots of ladybugs and a spraying of mineral oil we are hopeful the outbreak is somewhat contained.

What’s Available at Wednesday Market?

Sorry for the late list…..Jenny got dehydrated yesterday and we spend the evening in the ER getting fluids back  into her. She was drinking lots of water but no electrolytes so we’ll be adding lemon to our water on these hot days from now on. And being sure to keep up our intake of leafy greens, which are apparently another good natural source of electrolytes. We eat greens with every lunch at least, and she happened to hurry through lunch yesterday and skipped our big salad. In Summary……take care of yourselves out in this heat!!

Anyway, here’s what’s on the table this week:

Carrots, Beets,  Microgreens, MicroCilantro, Green Garlic, Green Onions, Watermelon Radishes, Rainbow Chard, Kale, Collards, Sweet Asian Turnips, Pak Choi, Tat Soi, Dill, Parsley, Fennel, last of the Strawberries! Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, Lettuce, Napa Cabbage, Kohlrabi, Cucumbers, Arugula and first of the sungold tomatoes!!

Still some transplants left from the plant sales: mostly flowers and basil and oregano.

Ginger & Turmeric Golden Paste, Farm-Made Chocolate with farm grown flavors like strawberry, ginger, and rosemary mint.. New Product: Goddess Ghee, clarified butter made from grass-fed cow’s milk.

We’ve already installed our summer lettuce shade tunnel. 30% shade cloth, PVC bows over rebar, landscape fabric to prevent weeds, and sprinklers for a midday cool down. Beautiful Elderberry is the tall bush blooming in the background. These blooms will produce berries this summer, which we’ll pick to make the anti-viral tincture. Elderberry Tincture available again this fall!

We thought the sweet onions were lost in the weeds but we ended up with a good crop!
