Eggplant, Basil, Lemon basil, Onions, Garlic, Lettuce, Flower Bouquets and Farm-Made Chocolate (made here!) with farm grown flavors like strawberry, ginger, and rosemary mint.

Yogurt & Granola from Pecan Point Farm, Meat and Eggs from Turntime Farm, Lamb from Fall Line Farm in Auburn, Local Honey from Mica Hill Farm, Turmeric Golden Paste, Goat Cheese from Bulger Creek Farm,  Goddess Ghee, clarified butter made from grass-fed cow’s milk.  Basil Pesto (Our Basil!), Sundried Tomato Pesto, Lemon Herb Salad Dressing, and Pimiento Cheese from Lauren’s Specialty Foods.

Sue’s B’s Granola Bars will be available as well as: Sourdough bread from Amazing Grace, Garlic Naan bread, and other baked goodies like scones, muffins, and sunflower seed cookies from Emerald Acres Farm.

Zane is harvesting some turnip greens for market tomorrow morning. He’s harvesting from our trap crop Turnips. We initially planted those there to attract the usual beetles and aphids that typically arrive in droves this time of year. The insect netting just behind Zane is covering turnips we hoped to harvest, but to our surprise, the unprotected greens are untouched, vibrant, and ready to harvest!

The greenhouse is a patchwork of microgreens! So much variety in taste, size, and color. We’ve got lots of transplant plugs mixed in there too. This is the time of year to be planting out kale, collards, lettuce, beets, and so much more. It’s summer no doubt, but our farm fields are quickly turning into Fall.

CSA Sign-Ups Still Open

We will be beginning our Fall CSA season this week with the season ending near Christmas. We have had a great response this fall but can still add a few more shares if you are interested.

If you’d like to sign up, click here!

We are using a new program called Harvie which will allow members more autonomy in customizing their weekly share as well as adding on extra items to be brought to the pick up location, and options like vacation holds!

We’ve begun the sweet potato harvest. We have about 10,000 square feet of potatoes , so hopefully you will be seeing them for most of the Fall and into the winter in our CSA shares and on the market table. The harvest process is very labor intensive and then the curing will take a week or two, so don’t expect them on your table for another few weeks, but it does feel good to have pulled the first few rows.

Our friend Melissa making herself a beautiful bouquet of flowers at the on farm market. We’ve planted more flowers this summer and fall for a sustained flower harvest, so expect to see plenty of flowers at the markets and as an ad-on with your CSA share.

Post-Swim Muscadine Snack! These super sweet fruits will be at market tomorrow.

Fall planting is happening now. SO many plant babies needing to go in the ground: Cauliflower, broccoli, Kale, Collards, and Cabbage. With these recent rains, the soil should be just right for planting towards the end of the week. Its still summer but these plants need to go in the ground soon so they have time to mature before the cold weather and short days drastically slow any progress.

We took a trip to Chicago this week to visit our dear friends Will and Jane and meet their new baby boy Alder. We also got to see two past apprentices- Janice lives right there in Chicago and Brandon was an hour train ride to Milwaukee.

Japanese Lettuce and regular lettuce looking good under the shade tunnel. We have to run sprinklers in the afternoons to cool it off. Peppers and flowers offer a beautiful backdrop.
