Just a reminder that our On Farm Market is open on Wednesdays from 9-5 through the winter.

This week, we’ll have Carrots, Spinach, Kale, Collards, Watermelon Radish, Mustard Greens, Lettuce, Parsley, Rainbow Chard, Sunchokes, Winter Squashes, and Stone Ground Grits.

From the “Farmacy”….

Tinctures (Medicinal Extracts): Ginger, Turmeric, Elderberry, and Holy Basil. Also, Hibiscus/Mint/Lemongrass Tea.  Comfrey- Aloe Cream for minor wounds, rashes and burns. All medicinal herbal products are made here with herbs/plants grown here.

We ship the herbal products, so if you are out of town you can order these through our Etsy Shop

Farm Update

Chris is taking a break from writing the “Good Food News” until Spring. I (Jenny) won’t even attempt to replace his poetic musings, but wanted to give a quick update from the farm.

Chris has been busy building a gorgeous heart pine table for our house. He’s also preparing spring planted fields, fixing various things, hauling hogs to the processor (pork will be available again in February!), and setting up new fencing for the hogs.  Brandon, Melissa, and I are starting the first plants in the greenhouse, weeding the winter crops, and planting crops in the hoophouse.

We are relishing this brief period of respite. Time for reading by the woodstove, going to more yoga classes (thanks for our wonderful instructor Monique! You can get more information about Monique’s yoga classes here )and spending more time with friends and family.

Chris used heart pine wood from walls that we took out in our house for this dining room table. He may be an amateur wood worker, but he’s produced a masterpiece here!

The chickens may not give us many eggs in the winter, but they are doing their part to contribute to our soil’s fertility: eating this cover crop of abruzzi rye and fertilizing for the next crop all the while.

Take good care,

Jenny and Chris
